White Oak Stair with Stainless Cable Rail
Western North Carolina
The stair was laid out on site so the treads, landing and upper balcony all read as one continuous run of white oak.
Posts were set into structure before the cable runs were tensioned, keeping every horizontal line parallel across the flight, the landing and the balcony guard.
Joinery at the posts and handrail transitions was cut and fitted in place rather than covered with trim.

Open treads on a clean stringer
White oak treads are set on an open stringer so the underside of the stair stays as considered as the top.
Cable runs held parallel
Cable spacing stays even across flights and landings, with posts located so the runs read continuous from the main level.
Handrail transitions
The handrail is eased through the direction changes so the grip stays continuous from bottom newel to upper level.
